The Breast Augmentation Procedure
Breast augmentation is a highly personalized procedure. Your surgery may look a bit different than others based on the type of breast implant, incision, and placement you and Dr. Sanders have chosen for your procedure.
The general procedure steps for breast augmentation include:
- Administering anesthesia. Dr. Sanders will help you choose between intravenous sedation or general anesthesia.
- Making the incisions. Dr. Sanders offers two different breast augmentation incision options—inframammary incision (under the breast) and periareolar incision (around the nipple).
- Inserting and placing the breasts in the breast pocket, either under the muscle or over the muscle.
- Once your breast implants are optimally placed, Dr. Sanders will close up your incisions using dissolving sutures.
Recovery And Aftercare
Taking care of your body and prioritizing rest after your procedure is key to achieving beautiful breast augmentation results. This type of plastic surgery is an outpatient procedure, meaning you will go home the same day of surgery. However, overnight care facilities are available if you do not want to return home immediately after surgery.
