Why Choose Breast Implant Removal?

In some cases, breast implant removal may be the right choice if the breast implants are causing unwanted side effects. Breast implant removal may be right for you if:

  • You have capsular contracture, or shrinkage of natural scar tissue.
  • The breast implant is leaking.
  • There is a buildup of calcium around the breast implant.
  • The breast implants have shifted or moved from their original position.
  • You are experiencing unwanted pain due to the breast implants.
  • The implants have changed shape over time, affecting their appearance.
  • You don’t feel comfortable with your breast implants any longer.

About Dr. Sanders

The Breast Implant Removal Process Explained

During a breast implant removal procedure, you will first be put under deep sedation anesthesia to alleviate any discomfort during the surgery.

Next, Dr. Sanders will make an incision either under your breast along the lower fold or an incision around or below the areola.

Once the incisions are made, Dr. Sanders then draws on his years of experience to carefully remove the breast implants without affecting the surrounding tissue and skin. After the breast implants are removed, he will close the incisions using sutures, adhesives, tapes, or clips.

Recovery And Aftercare

Following the procedure, you will likely have gauze dressing or bandages, and you may have drains, which are thin tubes temporarily placed under the skin to allow drainage of excess blood or fluids.

Additionally, Dr. Sanders will likely recommend you wear a surgical bra for added support, and may recommend compressions garments to reduce swelling.

Before the surgery, Dr. Sanders will give you specific instructions on what you can expect after your individual breast implant procedure, including what medications he recommends, how to care for your surgical site, and when you should schedule a follow-up appointment. It is important to follow his post-op aftercare plan for optimal healing and a smooth recovery.
